Web Offset Printing in China and heatset web offset presses
Web Offset Printing
Image Printing Bookprintingcn.com Offset lithography is the most commonly trusted high volume commercial printing technology. In offset printing, the design image is first burned onto a plate, and is then transferred (or offset) from the plate to a rubber sheet, and finally to the printing surface. The lithographic process is based on the repulsion of oil and water. The image to be printed gets ink from ink rollers, while the non printing area attracts a film of water, keeping the non printing areas ink-free.

Heatset web offset printing responsibly highlights
Regenerative Thermal Oxidisers: In 2005, Paarl Media led the way with the installation of centralised RegenerativeThermal Oxidisers (RTO's) on all heatset web offset presses to eliminate emissions in line with stringent international standards. The Megtec's Dual-Dry? TNV RTO technology used ensures that the air released is free of odour, visual smoke and polluting substances. Energy is recovered from the oxidisation process to be re-utilised in the drying section; thereby vastly reducing gas energy consumption.
Alcohol free printing: Traditionally, a volatile organic compound (VOC), Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), is used as an additive in the dampening system. Its fumes are toxic and it has a low flash point resulting in fire and safety hazards in the workplace. Paarl Media has implemented an alcohol free printing process on all its web offset presses, which offers lower ink and water settings along with the ability to print a given density using an ink film that isn't diluted by alcohol. The result is better quality book printing with sharper dots and less tendency for emulsification.
